Meet Our Founder, Steven J. Wolt

As the founder of Valor Recovery Coaching I am super excited to bring this program to the market to help men overcome problematic and compulsive sexual behaviors.

This program is deeply personal to me.  I am in long term sexual recovery and have personally experienced the emotional and spiritual despair of sexual compulsivity, porn abuse, and the use of prostitution and strip clubs to combat feelings of low self worth and low self esteem.

I had become completely powerless to my behaviors leaving me in a hopeless and desperate state of mind. My actions left a wake of destruction and consequences. Sex and drug addiction helped to destroy a very successful financial services career in New York and profoundly hurt my loved ones.

My journey of healing took time and required perservance.  Today, I live in the light and beauty of sexual recovery, live a wonderful life with my amazing wife Jennifer, and have devoted my life to helping other men do the same.

Courage and vulnerability are my guiding light as I continue to share my story to inspire others, and to break down the barriers that prevent men from getting the help they need.

Shame and stigma prevent men from talking about these issues and getting help. As a result they suffer in silence fueling feelings of profound loneliness, and depression that affect overall masculinity. My mission is to change this.

In 2017 I co-founded Veritus, which was the nation’s first telehealth intensive outpatient program for licensed professionals with substance use disorders.  We used telehealth technology (long before COVID) to increase access to care and provide higher levels of confidentiality. This helped reduce the barriers that prevented many professionals from getting help.

At Veritus we integrated peer based executive and recovery coaching into our clinical programming.  Our coaches were licensed professionals (physicians, nurse, lawyers etc) in long term recovery.  There, I got to witness just how powerful peer coaching can be. The shared life experiences fueled empathy, and a more meaningful connection between the coach and client.  Peer recovery coaching plays such a significant role in modern day treatment for substance use disorder and can significantly improves treatment outcomes.

At Valor Recovery Coaching we are building on the incredible work we did at Veritus by offering peer based recovery coaching to help men overcome the pain, darkness and despair of sexual compulsivity.
